Butterflies' colorful party

Yesterday was the Christmas day; the sun finally showed and it was a good day for going out. However I chose to sit in front of my desk and made lots of paper butterflies.

The idea came from three days ago (last Friday), when I went to a school to read (actually acted) a story to first-grade children. The story was about an animal in the forest, who had a bad mood. Thus my pals and I decided to impersonate an animal each, and asked the kids to do the same.

My first choice was bunny, which was always the animal on top of my head when being asked to pick one.

We were also asked to make our own name tags, so my idea was to fold an origami rabbit and attach it to the name tag. However, for some reason, the name tag was already full of butterfly-shaped holes when I realized (I bought a butterfly-shaped hole puncher in Japan). Thus...I have no choice but use cute butterfly as my role, and hence made an origami butterfly as the attached symbol.

The activity was a huge success. The kids loved me, and loved my origami butterfly as well. Actually I even made some extra butterflies for the kids in the end that day.

I couldn't forget how much fun it was to fold those butterflies for the kids, which stirred up the idea that why not finding out all the different ways to make butterfly origami, and really folding them out just like different butterfly species?

No sooner said than done; I picked the color papers and started to fold varied colorful butterflies. By the evening, I had made 12 different "species" of butterflies; some of them have the same "root" of course.

I put them at the flowers (some of them are also origami) and took lots of pictures. And finally I arranged them in the box I made...then a beautiful butterfly specimen exhibition was done!! Aren't they vivid?

Dancing Notes with Acer M310 Allegro

Album link: Acer M310 Allegro

This is the first project after I came back to Qisda.

I'm an emotional girl, and easy to get attached as time goes by. Thus although it was a tough experience for most of us, I still fell in love with this project. And the best way to express my love...is to make handicraft as a tribute.

The model name of this WP7 mobile phone is Allegro, and it links me to the music notes since I had learned to play piano for ten years before. So the eighth note came to the show, covered with candy-like colors.

The final works was the accumulation of ideas...first the out-of-date receipts and the matchsticks composed of the fourth notes. But there's no room to indicate the "meaning" of these notes, so I added a tail for each note to write the model name; hence the eighth notes occurred.

Finally, I worry that not everyone get the relation between notes and Allegro, plus the notes need a home...so I print out the mini M310s as notes' holder. Now the work is complete.

Salute to the born of Acer M310 Allegro, and all the members engaged to this project!!

Leaves for Europe

Album link: Leaves for Europe

This summer, I left; left from my job, left from my life, and left for Europe.

Before leaving, I decided to make some handicrafts, sending them to strangers I met during the trip. My wish is to let my works be known all over the world, so why not start now...spread my works all around the world?

I didn't know what to make, no idea in my mind. However, an image of a leaf showed in my head one day, so I decided to turn it into reality...that's how I chose leaves as my presentation for this trip.

In the end, I didn't send all the leaves out, but indeed I met some interesting people.

This is for the man I met in front of Basilique du Sacré-Cœur. He hit on my and tried to paint a picture for me. I rejected cause I didn't want to spend money on that, but he was still interested in me, and started to talk to me. I didn't call him as he asked, but I sent him a leaf as a souvenir, and got of portrait of me as mine.

The leaves are sent as gifts for gratitude. I walked 2 hours trying to reach the bridge shown in Van Gogh's painting from Arles town center. When I finally got there and took pictures...I have know idea how I can hold on and walk back. Luckily, I met this family, and they were willing to give me a ride back. God bless kind Taiwanese~

This was a funny story. I was writing my journal in Chinese when I was on a train from Bath to London when the man sat beside asked me to teach him some Chinese characters. I wrote him the official form of numbers, and he presented me the book he was reading. Also he introduced me a musical called "Blood Brothers", whose ticket was the birthday present from his family. Such a warm and kind old man :)

Here was another wonderful friendship. I met 姝秀 in Lake District as my roommate. We were such alike, eating dinner under sunset every evening and telling each other our stories. One evening, we even went to see Harry Potter 7 together; that was really a amazing experience.

Although I may not meet those people again, my gifts have already symbolized each encounter.

Since there are still some leaves yet, the spread will go on~maybe you are the next person receiving this gift :)

The Greatest Gift of All - Farewell HYT

Note: this is the English version of "The Greatest Gift of All -- HYT臨別贈禮"

When Marshall from How I Met Your Mother decided to quit his job, something strange happened. Every annoying person and thing seem adorable after he made up his mind leaving that company. Thus he started to wonder, if it's the right decision to quit? Robin gave him a wake-up call by telling Marshall that this phenomenon is call "Graduation Goggles", just an illusion rathe than the truth.

I totally get it, because this is my second resignation in two years. I remembered clearly that I fell in love with everyone and everything in that company; love them from the bottom of my heart, and appreciate everything they did.

And that's why I camp up with this goodbye gift for my coworkers from HYT -- The Greatest Gift of All~

The gift is not just a normal present for each one, it also shows the inner Gift of each person.

From the day I got Archangel Oracle Cards, I drew one card each morning for my main energy or wisdom needed today for more than 5 years. It had witnessed ups and down of my life, and gave me inner strength. Thus, now I want to share this gift and blessing to all my coworkers.

I've believed in that everyone has his/her own divine life purpose in this world since I began to read the Course of Light. Every single person should find his/her own potential, develop the talent, then shine!! And I think it is the so-called "the meaning of life".

Inner gift often presents in an unexpected form, and it won't be one's inner strength until it has been seen and accepted. Hence, I drew a card for everyone to point out their inner gifts, and hope this card can remind them from time to time that they are all precious and worthy, and the most important, guided.

I knew HY Tech is not where I belong from the begining. Here is just a shelter for me when I'm weak and need some rest. In return, I assist to make this company more stable and stronger; doing my best before I start my next jounery. I don't care if anyone thinks I'm too cocky...this was my sincere thought.

Now, it's time. It's time for me to go on the next unknown journey...and RTZ.

It's difficult to leave HYT, but everyone got to go his/her own way. So the only thing I can do is to send this small but meaningful gift to them all; hoping everyone can truly understand this gift/Gift someday :)

Ok...the speech is over. Now come to appreciate the details of the gifts here!!

Farewell~~HYT~~

Chinese New Year Gifts (The Rabbit)

Album link: 2011 Chinese New Year

It's been almost a year since I announced my resignation on Qisda. Remembering that White held a great year end party for AP team, I think it's my turn to make something for my members. So this time, I decide to send some new year gifts to my project members.

The gifts are special calendars, which you need to fold and unfold it to see the calendar of the next four mouths. I learned the idea from a book which teach students how to make "magical" works; and the motive is that I'd never make anything plain :P

Each calendar is decorated with an origami rabbit, a 春(spring) paper-cut, and a monotype of 辛卯(the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches for the upcoming Chinese year, and it's the year of the Rabbit). What's more, every origami, paper-cut and monotype is unique, and being arranged differently for each calendar. Well...I just want to make sure each work is one of the kind~

I love this work soooo much, since it integrates multiple techniques and funny ideas. On top of that, it took 12*7=84 name cards to make them...which I want to give thanks to my brother's old name card:P Hope my members will love them. And happy Chinese new year~~it's the year for the Golden Rabbit ^^
